Day 20; Touring Rio de Janeiro!

We started our day extemely early for our liking.. lol Today was the day we were going to see most of Rio. Our tour started at 9 in the morning and I can't remember if we were excited or half asleep! Eddie and our Mexican friends joined us for the tour, that guaranteed us a really great time.

Our first stop was "Cristo Redentor", which I've been wanting to see since I was a little girl. The road to get there reminded me so much of Puerto Rico's country. Once we got there, our adventure really began!

Can you believe this beauty? I can't belive someone created this amazing monument..

It wasn't that crowded but it was extremely hard to take good pictures but we figured it out anyways!

The view was spectacular and you could see Maracana, Sugarloaf, Copacabana.. practically all Rio!

Our next stop was Maracana!!! I was extremely excited but I knew we couldn't go in..

At this point we started to get really tired and we were only half way through our tour!

Our next stop was the "Sambodromo" (where the Carnaval is held) and Rio's Cathedral..

The inside was beautiful but my favorite part was the cross on the roof uniting all the sides of the Church..

We got really happy when it was time to eat! The restaurant was a buffet so we eat everything we wanted! :)

The last stop in our tour was Sugarloaf! This time the sky was super clear and we were able to see everything!

Before leaving Sugarloaf, we signed the book to make our visit official! :)

We had a great time spending time with everyone on the tour. Let me tell you, our tour guide was the best ever! She answered every question we had and even found us things we were looking for..

Tomorrow we're going to "Arcos da Lapa" and "Escadaria Selaron"..

Day 19; off to Semis!

Today we woke up early with a message in my phone from our new Mexican friends, the ones we met in Fortaleza. In the apartment Gaby was super excited because  argentina was playing today so he was singing the song that Argentinians sing to the Brazilian fans. We made breakfast for the boys and got ready to meet Hugo and Clemente.

Like all mexicans, they found out where the apartment was located and they knocked on the door. We started walking to the fanfest at copacabana and let me tell you, it was so hard o get there that we ended up in the FIFA fan shop!!! For someone as shopaholic as me, the store was like heaven, I saw so many things  for Leila, Joel and Xaby that Mayte told me to wait so we could buy them cheaper after the World Cup. So I will hold on and wait..

We finally found the entry to to the Fan Fest to see Argentina play. When Gonzalo Higuain scored, that place was something else, people were crazy singing and jumping! The Belgians were sad but they were like true Madridistas, they believed until the last minute. Unfurtunatly, they didn't scored so Argentina is on the Semis.

After the game we went to a little coffeshop and I drank a chocolate bomb milkshake that was not that bomb but it was good. We also made plans for tomorrow and hopefully we will go on a tour to see the Crist and some other places Rio has to offer.

We said good bye to the guys and came to the apartment to feed the boys (again!) and see Costa Rica vs Netherlands. It was so sad seeing Costa Rica loose in penalty kicks but this is football. FYI Van Persie still as hot as ever!!!!! Can't wait to see what will happen in the next game against Argentina.

So far this has been the best trip/World Cup ever!

Day 18; Brazilian madness in Rio de Janeiro!

We spent the day enjoying futebol in Rio. I knew they experienced futebol completely different and I wasn't even closed to it!

We needed some stuff for breakfast/dinner and we went to the market.. Where I found this sign saying that they were going to close for Brazil's game. That's what the whole city did, it was crazy!!

We watched France vs Germany in our apartment and after it ended, it was time to go out and find a spot to watch Brazil's game. We went to Copacabana, a perfect place to enjoy futebol!

The beach was full of tourists and you couldn't hear the Brazilians singing their national anthem which it was something I was really looking forward to.. Maybe during the Semis! :)

I was extremely nervous for the game because Colombia was having an amazing World Cup.. We found a perfect spot to watch the game..

I was supporting my team like always! :)

I was extremely excited that Thiago Silva scored a goal that made Brazilian fans starting to believe in the Semis.. Colombia wasn't playing their usual game and Brazil was able to make the game theirs.. What an amazing goal David Luiz scored, that was a fantastic free kick!! Two central defenders scored Brazil's games.. Can you believe it?! :)

We had a really great time watching the game and I can't wait for the game against Germany! That's going to be a great match!

Tomorrow we're going to watch the matches and we're going to the beach for the first time in Rio.. Finally! :)

Day 17; Pão de Açúcar!

Today, I visited one of the places I've always wanted to visit, Sugarloaf Mountain!

It took us FOREVER to get there! I've never spent so many hours in a line just to get a ticket! After we finally got our tickets, we were ready to finally visit the mountain..

Let me tell you, this experience was something else.. The view of Rio was just amazing!!

I fell in love with this beauty!! And I can't believe I took this picture! :)

We met Hugo Sanchez, that was definitely the highlight of our day! He was an amazing Madridista and is very humble person!

One of our friends was wearing a Barça jersey and he grabbed his wife's jacket to cover it! lol It was extremely funny!

There was an event in Sugarloaf where Zanetti, Ronaldo and Batistuta were attending. I couldn't believe that my childhood hero was so close! We tried everything but we couldn't see them..

We saw the sunset and it was something really spectacular!

After our tour it was time to celebrate our friends birthday! We went to Outback and we waited 2 hours for a table! That's the only thing we did today, wait for everything! :(

Regardless of all the waiting, we spent a really nice day together.. The views were breathtaking and I'm glad I had my camera to capture a little bit of Rio's beauty!

Tomorrow we're going to Copacabana and of course I'm going to support my Seleçao!! Rumbo a o HEXA! Vaaiii Brazil!! :)

Day 16; Hello Rio de Janeiro!!

Today's post is going to be really short..

I've been wanting to visit Rio de Janeiro since I was 6, today I made it a reality! We arrived in Rio around 8:30pm and I just wanted to explore the city right away!

We told the taxi driver to take us grocery shopping and then to the apartment.. We bought some esentials and went to meet our friends.

We arrived in the apartment around 9:45pm and the only thing we wanted to do was take a shower and sleep!

We're planning on going to "Sugar Loaf" (Pão de Açúcar) tomorrow and I can't wait to start explorong this city!
