Day 14; Beach day!

I can't believe we've been in this country for 2 weeks!!!

We decided to have a very relaxing day.. We went to the beach in the morning and spent most of our day there..

It was a beautiful day and we practically had the beach to ourselves!

I decided to build the perfect sand castle.. Look at this creation!!!

I know, it's horrible.. We spent like half an hour debating how people could actually build something with the sand. I know this is definitely not my strongest skill! lol

We had dinner at the same restaurant in   the corner, the food was really good and the juice was even better!!

I think I'm going to ask the owner for the recipe! It's the most delicious thing in the world!

Tomorrow is our last day in Fortaleza and we're going to enjoy every minute of it!

Day 13; Perfect weather for some "futebol"!

Let me tell you something.. I'm used to hot weather, but today in Fortaleza I'm pretty sure the heat index was close to 90+! It wasn't that hot in the stadium but the walk towards it was rough!

We went to the stadium in an official vehicle of the World Cup! :)

What a game we were able to watch! The stadium was beautiful just like the others..

It took us forever to get to the stadium and go trough security..  We got to our seats just in time for the initial whistle!

Look at this beauty!

I was cheering for Netherlands but I didn't expected the game to end how it did.. I'm not going to say if it was a penalty or not but from our seats it looked like a penalty (it happened just in front of us). Mexico's coach didn't knew how to read the game, just because you're up 1-0 doesn't mean you won the game. This is a game of 90 minutes!

Like our new Mexican friends said "Todos los Mundiales es la misma chingada!"

That's him really sad after he spent the 90 minutes yelling "Mexico, Mexico".. Honestly, it was giving me a headache! lol

Honestly it was a really great game but at this point, you need to play your best the whole game! And fyi Mexican fans, you don't throw cups at the pitch because you're losing the game! Learn some sportsmanship!!

That was our final game of this World Cup and I enjoyed every single minute of it! Now, we get to experience "futebol" from the other side..

We're going to the beach tomorrow and I hope we keep experiencing more amazing games!

Day 12; Suffering in Fortaleza!

Today was our first beach day in Brazil.. and it was amazing! The weather and the water were more than perfect!

Look at this beauty!

We spent an hour just laying in the water relaxing waiting until 1pm to see Brazil play.. We didn't wanted to leave this place!

Before we left we had to leave our mark on the beach even though it disappeared away just a couple of minutes later.. lol

And of course we joked a little bit!

I don't have a picture but Fhara fell and it was hilarious!!! hahaha

It was time to see Brazil play and I was more nervous than ever!

We met a couple of Mexicans and an Argentinian in our hotel and they saw me suffer pretty badly! The game was extremely intense! I never thought they were going to win easily but I never expected the game to go to a penalty shoot out! It was the longest 120 minutes of my life! And I'm ignoring the Champions League Final, that's another story! :)

I couldn't keep watching the game, minutes passed and nothing happened! I had my full trust in Julio Cesar and man he definitely came through! He played an amazing game and those penalties he stopped gave me faith to believe we could win this game! I'm grateful Fhara didn't recorded my reactions during the penalties 'cause I was a complete mess! lol

At the end, I'm grateful we're going to the quarter finals but they need to improve their game big time from now on.. It's not going to be an easy ride to the Hexa that's for sure!

After the game and a shower it was time to eat.. We went to the little restaurant in the corner and the food was good..

Yes, we ate all of it!! :) Those juices (sucos) were the best thing we've had since we got to Brazil! I'm definitely having more sucos of maracujá (passion fruit) and acerola!

Our Argentinian friend gave us an argentinian chocolate bar but we haven't tried it yet.. I'll let you know how it was, but since it's chocolate I know it's going to be good! lol

Tomorrow we're going to our third and final game of this World Cup.. Netherlands vs Mexico! I know my best friend and her mom would die to be here but, they know I can't stand the "Power Rangers"! That's how I call them because of their horrible jerseys! lol

I can't wait to see the game and keep exploring this amazing city!

Day 11; Hello Fortaleza!

Today, we said our goodbyes to Brasilia and we finally met Fortaleza!

Before I continue I have to say something about Brazilian airports.. Maybe I'm used to extreme security but this is just unbelievable. The don't even check your passport/id when you go through to "tsa", you don't have to take your shoes or jackets off, they don't care if you have food, gels or liquids (we had a 32oz laundry detergent bottle and nothing!), you can have anything in your bag and they're not going to say a thing, they don't even look at the screen when your bags are going through! But the best part? They don't even check your id when you board the plane, you can kill someone and board a plane and they wouldn't even know it! lol Ok, not to that extreme but you get my point!

The flight was better than the one to Brasilia and it got even better when you get to travel like this! :)

I got a little excited when I got to the plane and I saw this.. Yes, I know I'm in Brazil and I'm going to see it everywhere but I still get really excited!

See, I was really excited to have that piece of paper! lol

I'm happy that for the next couple of days we're going to experience super warm weather, beaches and another game!

But first, I can't wait to watch Brazil play tomorrow and hopefully advance to the quarter finals! Rumbo a o HEXA!! :)

Fortaleza, I know you're going to be amazing!

Day 10; Torcendo por Portugal!

We've been waiting for this day since February! We had tickets to see Cristiano Ronaldo play! Everyone knows we are Madridistas so supporting him was a must!

Everywhere in the city you could see Portugueses sporting their colours very proudly.. And of course there was a million shirts of Cristiano! I also saw tons of Real Madrid jerseys which made me extremely happy since I was wearing a really special shirt.. ("La camisa del Real Madrid es blanca, se puede manchar de barro, sudor y hasta de sangre pero jamas de verguenza" - Santiago Bernabeu)

We took the bus to the stadium and the madness instantly began!!

I was extremely excited to be supporting a couple of my Madridistas and I know Fhara was too.. :)

With tickets in hand, we couldn't wait to get to our seats!

The stadium was breathtaking and the atmosphere was amazing!! Everyone believed they actually could do it!

The game was very intense, at some point I didn't even wanted to watch! Cristiano had so many chances but Ghana's goalkeeper was phenomenal today! I know people are going to criticize Cristiano because he didin't helped his team and blah blah blah.. But everyone needs to realize that this sport is a group effort. Yes, you might have a star in your team but even though he tries everything to score some goals, he can't do it alone, that's why they have 10 extra players on the pitch! Portugal had the worst luck during this tournament, 5 players got injured, including their starting keeper, defenders, midfielder and striker.. If you don't think that's bad luck, I don't know what it is!!

This Madridista will support him regardless, he's the best player in the world but he's an even better human being! Now, it's time to rest Cristiano.. Real Madrid's next season is going to be extremely long! We want those 3 extra trophies of 2014!! :)

Now, we're definitely going to see more upsets and beautiful goals.. I'm hoping for an unforgettable 2nd round and even better quarter/semi finals!

Vamos Brasil, rumbo a o HEXA! :)

Mayte

PS; this guy, really knows his "futebol"!!! :D

Day 9; Brasilia's beauty..

Today we visited Brasilia's historic center.. We planned our trip so that we could go and return in the bus!

Let me tell you, seeing how almost 50 people tried to get into just one bus was something.. I was completely in shock! I saw it during a movie but I never thought it was actually like that!

At noon we arrived at Brasilia's Cathedral and it was even more beautiful in person!

Mass was in process so we went in for the service..

We also visited the Public Library, and the Museum..

We kept walking and we found another park..

After our little tour it was time for dinner. Toda, I was craving italian.. or "massa"! As usual, it was really good!

Tomorrow we're going to ser Cristiano Ronaldo play in this stadium and we can't be more excited! I'm hoping for an amazing game and I want Portugal to go through!

I believe in you Cristiano! Força Portugal!!
