Day 3; A national holiday in Porto Alegre!

Who knew that today was a holiday in Brazil? Well, we didn't! So we had to find things to do since everything was closed! The weather has been really crazy and today was a little bit colder than yesterday (high 40's, low 50's).

We decided to explore the city, so we grabbed a map and started walking.. We visited lots of historic places around the city!

"Palace of Justice"

"Saint Peter's Theater"

"Metropolitan Cathedral"

Since today was "Corpus Christi" we went in the church and stayed for a couple of minutes..

"Palace Farroupilha"

"City Hall; Palace of the Azoreans"

After we finished taking pictures a local saw us looking at the map and he told us that there wasn't much to see.. He advised us to keep walking until we saw the shopping mall.. we never found it! lol

We ended up going to the Fan Fest again! And we watched the first half of Uruguay vs England, it was a pretty good half..

During halftime, we left and started walking along "Guaiba Lake", the sunset and the view of "Beira-Rio Stadium" was beautiful!

And of course there was a place to play "futebol" with a beautiful background!

We passed "Usina do Gasometro" wich used to be a thermoelectric factory..

After the sunset, we started to head back to the hotel but first we needed to find somewhere to eat.

Don't ask me for the names of the dishes 'cause I have no idea.. The only thing I know is that the food was amazing and it was really cheap too so that's a huge plus!

We found our way back to the hotel without using the map or asking directions.. We're proud about it!!

Tomorrow we're exploring the city again and we'll do our best to enjoy our last day in Porto Alegre!

Brasilia, see you really soon!!

Love,

Mayte
