Day 10; Torcendo por Portugal!

We've been waiting for this day since February! We had tickets to see Cristiano Ronaldo play! Everyone knows we are Madridistas so supporting him was a must!

Everywhere in the city you could see Portugueses sporting their colours very proudly.. And of course there was a million shirts of Cristiano! I also saw tons of Real Madrid jerseys which made me extremely happy since I was wearing a really special shirt.. ("La camisa del Real Madrid es blanca, se puede manchar de barro, sudor y hasta de sangre pero jamas de verguenza" - Santiago Bernabeu)

We took the bus to the stadium and the madness instantly began!!

I was extremely excited to be supporting a couple of my Madridistas and I know Fhara was too.. :)

With tickets in hand, we couldn't wait to get to our seats!

The stadium was breathtaking and the atmosphere was amazing!! Everyone believed they actually could do it!

The game was very intense, at some point I didn't even wanted to watch! Cristiano had so many chances but Ghana's goalkeeper was phenomenal today! I know people are going to criticize Cristiano because he didin't helped his team and blah blah blah.. But everyone needs to realize that this sport is a group effort. Yes, you might have a star in your team but even though he tries everything to score some goals, he can't do it alone, that's why they have 10 extra players on the pitch! Portugal had the worst luck during this tournament, 5 players got injured, including their starting keeper, defenders, midfielder and striker.. If you don't think that's bad luck, I don't know what it is!!

This Madridista will support him regardless, he's the best player in the world but he's an even better human being! Now, it's time to rest Cristiano.. Real Madrid's next season is going to be extremely long! We want those 3 extra trophies of 2014!! :)

Now, we're definitely going to see more upsets and beautiful goals.. I'm hoping for an unforgettable 2nd round and even better quarter/semi finals!

Vamos Brasil, rumbo a o HEXA! :)

Mayte

PS; this guy, really knows his "futebol"!!! :D

Day 9; Brasilia's beauty..

Today we visited Brasilia's historic center.. We planned our trip so that we could go and return in the bus!

Let me tell you, seeing how almost 50 people tried to get into just one bus was something.. I was completely in shock! I saw it during a movie but I never thought it was actually like that!

At noon we arrived at Brasilia's Cathedral and it was even more beautiful in person!

Mass was in process so we went in for the service..

We also visited the Public Library, and the Museum..

We kept walking and we found another park..

After our little tour it was time for dinner. Toda, I was craving italian.. or "massa"! As usual, it was really good!

Tomorrow we're going to ser Cristiano Ronaldo play in this stadium and we can't be more excited! I'm hoping for an amazing game and I want Portugal to go through!

I believe in you Cristiano! Força Portugal!!

Day 8; another lazy day..

Today we opted to do little things..

We did more laundry, walked around our hotel, watched today's games and a couple of Movies.. Thank God for Netflix!!

What a crazy World Cup! All the teams I thought were going to go through are eliminated! This World Cup is slowly turning into Copa America.. Which is a good thing, this side of the world plays amazing futbol!

The narrator of one of the games today was the one and only; Roberto Carlos! Let's just say I was extremely excited to see him.. I grew up watching him play and he's one of my favorite players of all times!

I noticed something today, I almost got the same seats for all our games.. I don't know if it's a sign or something but I hope it brings me luck!

Also, just a month ago we were celebrating La Decima! I can't believe it's been a month since that amazing game! Let's hope that "La Undecima" gets home this year! :)

We're only 8 days into our trip and I still can't believe I'm in Brazil.. I can't wait to keep exploring this amazing country!

Day 7; Brazilian madness in Brasilia!

Today was a big day for us.. We took the bus for the first time!! And we survived!

It was an easy ride, mostly because all the buses were working specifically for the game..

I was in heaven because Brazil played here today! You could see flags, scarves, hats, shirts among other things everywhere!! People started cheering early in the morning and it looked like a party everywhere you went..

We walked to find a place to see the game and we couldn't find one close to the stadium where I was hoping to see my Seleção pass by..

We watched the game with a bunch of Brazilians and it was really awesome. There's nothing like watching a Brazil game that's being played just a couple of miles away.. I never thought I'll be experiencing the madness that the national team creates in the country!

Everything and I mean everything closed an hour before kick off just because Brazil was playing.. It was awesome to see that, their lives trully revolve around "futebol"!

I wanted them to win but deep down I was hoping to be able to see them in Fortaleza for the round of 16.. I'm happy that they started to play beautifully just like they know how to do it. I'm looking forward to see 4 more games of my Seleção! My jersey needs another star!! :)

Tomorrow we're going to visit the "Catedral Metropolitana" among other historic places.

I'll talk to you guys then. .

Day 6; Brasilia in "football time". .

Today was a "lazy kind of day"..

I think we're already on "Brazilian time", when there's a game you don't do anything! lol And by the way, it was Sunday, most places were closed..

We decided to rest a little since our last flight was so exhausting..

Around 4pm we tried to find somewhere to eat and ended up at the mall since every restaurant near our hotel was closed.

I had a filet mignon parmesan style and Fhara had something weird.. lol Sorry, I just don't remember the name..

The food was really good and now we were ready to see Cristiano play! We bought some snacks and laundry detergent and we headed back to our hotel..

We were able to do half our laundry and now we smell like the Brazilian team! ;)

Portugal's game was really though but that's why it's called "group of death".. The winners of that group are going to be decided during the last game and I can't wait to see Cristiano play Thursday! I bet anything is going to be a great one!!

Tomorrow Brazil plays here but unfortunately for me, we don't have tickets. I'm expecting madness everywhere! We're going to the Fan Fest to watch the game and I can't imagine the amazing atmosphere we're going to find there..

I'll let you guys know how it went..

Vamos Brazil, rumbo a o HEXA!!!

Day 5; Hello Brasilia!

We were scheduled to leave Porto Alegre at 7:18am but the weather had other plans for us! There was so much fog, you couldn't even see!

The airport was closed for almost 4 hours and our flight got delayed until noon! Let's just say we weren't happy since we woke up at 4am!

We managed to stay entertained for a couple of hours and thank god the airport had wifi.. Yes, that's Star Trek! :P

I'm grateful that I planned our trip perfectly and we didn't had anything scheduled for today. If we had tickets for a game all of this would have been a different story!

We finally arrived in Brasilia at 2:30pm and we were exhausted!! After check-in, we left our bags and went to find somewhere to eat. "Brasilia Shopping" was the closest thing around..

Let me explain something, here everything stops when "futebol" is on.. You guys have no idea how it works! Literally  everything revolves around "futebol"! Germany was scheduled to play Ghana at 4 and the mall had a perfect spot for it..

Yes, that's a huge screen, benches and a bed kind of lounge in the middle of the mall!! I'm telling you, everything revolves around "futebol"..

We were starving so we watched the first half and then we decided to find something to eat. I ordered the "churrasco brasileiro" and it was really good! I still haven't figured out what the brownish thing is but it had bacon so it was good! lol

Tomorrow we're exploring Brasilia and of course we're cheering for you Cristiano! Força Portugal!

Love,

Mayte
